But before pulling it apart -
FIND OUT WHICH CYLINDERS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY!

Knowing if it's just a couple and which ones, or ALL of them will tell what to do next.

Do you have the Pulse Air system and are you using the original air cleaner housing?

If yes to those two questions, then check to make sure you are not getting exhaust from either of those two tubes.

I just discovered that my 84 I6 has a bad check valve and one of them is pumping exhaust into the air cleaner. That is un-regulated EGR. The first clue was that my idle speed improved when I took the lid off the air cleaner.

Fixed! Pretty much...

A buddy came over, removed the venturi and blew compressed air through the jets...made all the difference! I wonder about any correlation between the EGR removal and clogged jets? Coincidence maybe?

The idle is kinda rough now though, perhaps all this trouble fouled some plugs. Some new ones are going in today.

It good to be able to get back the 113 other things that need attention on that rig! Thanks for the help!
