I did a center mounted brake on the tranny cover.

Re-made the cover out of 16g to make it more rigid and used a p brake handle out of a Nissan. Rear brakes are from a Lincoln Mark VII with integrated p brake. Used Mustang SVO cables to hook it all up.

I LIKE that! Good job!

And still room for a console.

Question e brake

now thats what i am talking about thanks looks great. can you go into a little more detail on the hook up under the jeep. what did you use to route the cables from each side up and then toward the middle of the jeep and did you have a trouble setting it up around the drive shaft . also would like to know a little more about the lincoln mark 7 ebrake and calipers you used since i am working on a full floater rear axle and was planning on use of gm cad calipers but if the lincoln ones would work maybe i could work them in . can you tell me how large will they open up. my rotors are from a early ford bronco and they are 1 1/4 in thick thanks

Medium-duty trucks used to have a handbrake setup with two great features. One was a small knob on the end of the handle that adjusted the cable length. If the brake wasn't holding you could release it, take a couple turns on the knob and set it again.

It also had an over-center design. As you pulled the handle up, the mechanism was working in an arc. As it passed over the top of the arc it hit a stop and was locked. It took a little effort in the other direction to get it back over the top and then it went on to full release.

Or you could probably tighten the cable a little more so that it was impossible to get locked over center and use it for handbrake turns.

I ran the cables fromthe mounting point on the calipers up and towards the center of the tranny tunnel to a braket I made and mounted to the tub. The cables themselves are jacketed. They are well above and out of the way of the drive shaft.

The Lincoln (88 Mark VII) calipers will take up to a 1" thick rotor. I am using them with a front 6 lug rotor from a 90 K1500 Chevy. If you are using a 5 lug pattern a CJ 7/8" front rotor may work or their might be something in a Ford 5 lug rotor.
I don't recall what the Lincoln rear rotor pattern or size is, but might look into it also.
