Say, I just got rid a off a CJ5 because I REALLY want to build a nice CJ7. If anyone has a line on one cheap let me know asap. I've given it a bunch of thought an the 7 is the way to go.

Never mind, I just walked out in my garage and realized I have another CJ5 and a nice CJ7 I forgot I had. I'm just gonna go with that.

I would be concerned buying a first-year model, too, but this one has been driven for 11 years. My guess is that the problems have been corrected during that time. And I didn't hear of any great issues with them when new. I wouldn't be afraid of it. Good find.

There actually are some problems with the 97,

the ac condensor housing is shaped in such a manner that the weep hole pluggs easily, they corrected it in late 98.

It also suffers from the same catalyst problems that they all suffer from but they have the 8 year 80,000 miles emissions warranty.

I have had both of thes issues and got them fixed.

I wouldn't worry about the 97 it is running the same engines and control systems as they did in 1995.

the jeep runs and drives great 4.0 auto trans d44 rear end with 3.73 gears i need a front set of gears and cairer it came with a d35 in the rear and 3.07 im trying to get it done befor my surgry on my shoulder this fryday but the wife loves driving it and going topless she can keep this one and im still shoping for a cj 5 it has a 2 inch spacer and 1inch body lift and 33"at tires i also have to correct the speedoit is about 8-9 mph off
