| | Say, I just got rid a off a CJ5 because I REALLY want to build a nice CJ7. If anyone has a line on one cheap let me know asap. I've given it a bunch of thought an the 7 is the way to go. |

Never mind, I just walked out in my garage and realized I have another CJ5 and a nice CJ7 I forgot I had. I'm just gonna go with that.  |

| | I would be concerned buying a first-year model, too, but this one has been driven for 11 years. My guess is that the problems have been corrected during that time. And I didn't hear of any great issues with them when new. I wouldn't be afraid of it. Good find.  |

| | There actually are some problems with the 97,
the ac condensor housing is shaped in such a manner that the weep hole pluggs easily, they corrected it in late 98.
It also suffers from the same catalyst problems that they all suffer from but they have the 8 year 80,000 miles emissions warranty.
I have had both of thes issues and got them fixed.
I wouldn't worry about the 97 it is running the same engines and control systems as they did in 1995.
