Copyied and pasted from NC4x4 forums: (pertaining to Tellico ORV park) Quote:
Just a few quotes from the Trout Unlimited web site. Full article at: http://www.tu.org/site/c.kkLRJ7MSKtH...nformation.htm
"closing the entire trail system in the winter months, are necessary, but they are not enough"
"Hundreds of TU members took a few minutes to submit a comment letter supporting the proposed action, and urging the Forest Service to take more decisive action "
"Water quality has been declining in the Tellico River and its tributaries for years as a result of muddy runoff from the inadequately maintained trail system within the Tellico ORV area"
"The current proposal to close them for one year is a necessary start, but will not be sufficient. The only option is to close them permanently "
"These trail segments must be closed to ORV traffic now"
"The current trail system exceeds by 200% the maximum density of trails allowed by the existing forest plan. Decades of experience have proven that the Forest Service, even when assisted by volunteer user groups and significant donated funding, is unable to maintain the 38 mile trail system. The Forest Service must reduce the trail system to a level it can manage and maintain. For these reasons, the closures under consideration are needed and must be expanded to include all trail segments "

Sounds like you guys need to monitor the TU forum for fishing trips. Then sit on the banks and throw rocks in the water till they decide it's better for you to be on the triails than have nothing to do.

On one of the rivers I fly fish on, the "Orginized anglers" don't even want the bait fishermen to have access to some areas.Which in my opinion is ridiculous! They stock the river and there are plenty of fish for every one. especially since most fly fishermen catch and release any way. Some of my friends who are guides won't let me use my "ferry stick" as they call it in there boat because of some of the strong sentiments about this argument. Some organizations have too much clout. Just remember not all fly fishermen are wallet totin looneyticks.

I can see a bunch of Jeepers sitting in the parking areas barbq'n and waiting for them to show up and assigning a jeeper to follow each guy into the woods and to the river, and just toss rocks all day, that would aggravate the out of someone
yeah, I like the messing with bigfoot commercials too,,,,
