Question usable parts?

My brother in law knows of a mid 70's-mid80's? J10 pickup for cheap, and I was wondering of possible usable parts, such as rear and front complete axles, tranny and xfer case, engine also for my 82 CJ7. I know the motor is a V8. Is there a lot that can be used without a lot of modification? Any answers are very much appreciated. Thanks. I am mainly interested in the rear and front axles, D44 possibly?

Pretty much everything can be used... The Motor/Tranny & T-case and axles... If it has a T18 it'll have a long input shaft making your rear driveshaft shorter... I have a T18-1B that came from a "J" Series Pick-Up and it fit in the CJ-7 the rear drive shaft was short... Then again the Jeep didn't flex much for obvious reasons... If you have the time, knowledge and money you can do any...

It will be a 44 in the front, save that steering box to sell to a yj or tj guy.

I missed the perfect j truck for what I wanted a few years ago it was a dually dana 70, dana 44 up fron with 5 something gears with a dana 18 and t-18. it was the perfect donor drive train for my cj 5 project and I passed it up over 100.00. I only wanted to ay 2 and the guy wanted 3. Amazing how stupid one can be.

Thumbs up Usable parts

Thanks guys, ya'll are the best. If I use the front and rear ends, are there any mods to be made so they will fit? My xfer case is a Dana 300, I'd like to keep it, cause I've heard it's pretty much bullet proof. Is the Dana 18 a better xfer case than the 300? I know the t18 is better than my T5 tranny, just in case the truck setup is the D18 & t18. It would be great if the V8 is a 401, but I'm not sure of the year model yet. I've got a 304 on a stand in my garage that runs, but I'm not willing to stuff it yet, cause my 258 is sweet, what with the mods I've done. Anyway, thanks, and would appreciate more input from the Great Guru's of this board.

If it has a dana 18 xfer case it is offset rearend. Which wont work with the 300, dont trade the 300 for the 18.
