Another good place to look for stainless is Inline Tube
I picked up a set for my 72 CJ there. All pre-bent and good to go.

Good Luck

David

Ditto on Inline Tube. When I did my frame restore I bought the pre-made lines from Inline for the rear and then raw ss lines to make my own for the front (I did something different from stock).

I ended up wasting about $50 worth of ss lines trying to get good flares. I was using a flare tool from Sears....the tool had a flaw...it did not hold the line exactly perpendicular...hence the flare tended to drift to the side....

Solution? Measure the distance you need and have them make a line for you...

How do you measure? Use a length of solid copper wire and shape the line you want and then measure that...and allow a little extra length for wiggle room.

BTW...on CJ's, the proportioning valve is on the frame rail. If you think there is any chance you may upgrade your engine (v8 swap?)....change your lines to the YJ style where the prop valve is up under the MC.

Thanks for the advice. I do plan on moving the prop valve close to the MC. (V8 is already in) When I was researching this topic, (before posting my question/thread) I saw a red Jeep in which somebody did a beautiful job making their new lines and mounting the prop valve up high, beside the MC. I was planning to buy the $20. flare tool thet makes a double folded flare. Nice idea with the 'wire' measuring. Inline Tube might put the ends on cheaper than I can do it myself?

That red jeep was either PNut's or mine....I did it first, and then he copied me....but did a much nicer job.....we both have red jeeps.....well, PNut used to have a red jeep....until he gave it away....

FYI....I used the MC and booster out of a YJ which already has the prop valve mounted under the MC....Order a set of lines for a YJ and you should be set.

And yes, it is cheaper to have Inline flare them for you. They only charge a few bucks per flare.

Thanks for the info!
Will the YJ MC fit the CJ mounting at the firewall and shaft to brake pedal?
If so, what year model should I ask for? I've got a 77 CJ-7 with disks up front and drums in the rear. Manual brakes, no booster.

The reman CJ MC I just bought is leaking out the lid. No surprise. I pointed out the gouged surface to the guys at O'Rileys when I bought it, but it was the only one they had, and they were the only ones who had it in stock. If it's an easy swap, I'll have them replace it with the YJ version.

PS
Does it have a clear reservoir? I'm not big on plastic under the hood, but it's nice to be able to check it without removing the lid.

Thanks again, Mark

I believe the YJ MC is a bit different than the CJ...and brake boosters are different.

I ended up getting a MC and brake booster from the junkyard....the booster ended up being bad so I got a new one from NAPA. It includes the bracket to mount to the fire wall...so in retrospect, I would have been better off to just buy Rebuilt/New MC and Booster from NAPA.
