Default Ignition Lock Cylinder Rack and Gear

If anyone is in need of ignition lock cylinder rack and gear for 77-78 CJ steering column (may fit others, I don't know), pls contact me. I have come across a scant few brand new OE replacement items. They fit the non-tilt models. I just put one in my '77 CJ5 and it fit perfect and works great. This is to replace the nylon or plastic gear and rack that the lock cylinder engages to activate and operate the ignition switch. They are really bad to strip after years of use and age. I spent untold $$ trying to find a good one at the junk yard out of GM products to no avail. Every one I found was stripped or just on the verge of stripping. Contact me direct at perzaklie@yahoo.com

Thanks

Aren't they available aftermarket through Help/Motormite/Dorman?

OK... then...

Click on the graphic and pick your 0n-line vendor or go to your local parts store that carries Morormite parts (The "HELP" Line) and ask for Part # 83211.

Or go to NAPA and ask for:
  • Item#: BK 6202246
  • Price: $15.99

Thanks LEVE! I appreciate the help!
(or is that brown nosing to say 'thanks' here now...?)

If our fellow jeeper doesn't have what I need, I'll give that a try!

About every where in town here has stopped carrying 'Dorman'. I understand they were purchased by some other company, but I don't know which.

There is at least one 'Help' section left in town.
