Thanks for all the replies. Now that we've covered the shopping lists of general items, do y'all have SPECIFIC gadgets that makes your camping/jeeping a treat?

What make Jeep camping a treat is the places we go, the time we spend there and the people we go with.

As far as "specific gadgets"; to each his own, it ranges from A to Z (Alcohol to Zip ties).

Backpackers have/use a lot small light weight equipment that many of us use:
nested cook ware, multi fuel stoves, water purfiters, LED lanterns/lights/ head lights, wrist watch w/alarm, colaspable water jugs, etc.

The fact that the Jeep is larger that a Backpack allows us to carry more "stuff", bigger "stuff" and extra "stuff". I carry an inverter, cords, flourscent drop lights and light our whole camp. Also I carry a Toilet seat (all the comforts of home). Also a buddy brings a couch ..... honest .... big enough for two men, to sit around the fire on. It's air filled and folds down into a huge air mattress that he sleeps on. I'll see if I can post a photo.
I bring a small chain saw if we are staying for an extended time: for firewood and clearing trail if needed. The grill in the camp fire adjusts up/down and swings left/right (home made).
Another buddy brings a gas BBQ, it folds up in a box 4"x16"x38". Unfolded it's about waist high and enough cooking room for a rack of ribs, 3-4 steaks & a has a burner for a pot and uses the small propane bottles.

Happy Jeep campin!

I like bringing my Dutch Oven; it is a great treat to have some peach cobbler for dessert. My nephew found this ball shaped manual ice cream maker that you fill with ice and salt in one chamber and the ice cream ingredients in the other chamber then you kick the whole thing around the campsite like a soccer ball (it's heavy plastic so it hurts a lot more than a soccer ball when kicked). About 10-15 minutes later you have ice cream to go with the cobbler. The only disadvantage is you have to sacrifice some ice, so it is a treat that you can have on the last night of camp (or you just have to drink the Yuengling Lager a little faster ). If I'm camping with our pop up, the refrigerator makes it a little less of a sacrifice with the ice.

For some strange reason, I'm always seem to be afraid of running out of propane; I always pick up an extra small bottle or two on the pre camping shopping trip. I end up every camping season with 4 or 5 left.

While bags of Ice are good, I use large plastic bottles (gatorade type) filled with water and frozen. They last longer in the ice chest and help keep your food from being water-logged. I also bring reading materials you know the most recent copies of 4x4 and JP mags.
Dont forget the toilet paper!!!

In these parts it's better known as "striking paper!"

And I will agree it's very good to have!

Former Boy Scouts refer to that last item as "the very important papers."

We use the plastic water bottle trick also but instead of Gatorade type we use 2 liter soda (pop) bottles. They are made of thinner plastic and are easier to cut away after the water is frozen in case you need to make smaller ice cubes. With either type, not only does it keep the American cheese and lunch meat dry but after the ice melts you have an extra gallon of water to use for any purpose needed.
