I vote that anyone who says "I'm betting on.." and is wrong, make a $25 contribution to the Jerry fund....and if I'm right, I'll make a $100 contribution....and if I'm wrong...a $100 contribution...

THAT's the spirit! But the Jeep is running now - how will we ever know who's right and whop's wrong?
Have any of the "mechanics" hooked up the scanner and watched the o2 sensor operating? Many moons ago I saw a couple of engines that would have the same symptoms. They were running very lean and would heat up the spark plugs. They would shut down/run crappy until they cooled down. What rpm are you running at 70mph? Do you have oversize tires? That drops the rpm to where the engine will struggle at 70mph. Overheats plugs etc. Chebby had that problem in the 80's. Two friends had them and they would miss and stumble in od. Kick down to drive and they ran fine. Check the plugs. If they look grey and scorched you may have found the problem. New plugs and maybe an o2 sensor and you will be good.
This is a simple problem to diagnose now.......you just install a fuel pressure gauge and take off across country....again.....and see what the gauge tells you about your fuel pump.
well i have 31's on it and it is at or around 1900 to 2200 rpms while riding 70 on the freeway. i also had that sucker loaded down good with all the stuff i had accumulated over the past four months. the jeep is running great and i am just goona keep it parked in my grandparents driveway for the next six months or so. i might be back for school here at the college of charleston in september so ill keep it here till then. if i decided to do my schooling in washington i am just gonan sell the thing. i have dumped alot of money into it since i got it so sombody would be getting a good deal on a tj, fully loaded with lots of new parts, just needs a computer or a fuel pump or somthin.
Hey Ryan, IMHO, that Jeep didn't let you down.
It did just what it was warning you it would do if you took it on that journey. You really pressed the envelope and hoped it would make it...and it didn't.
Step back, take a breather, let your emotions settle and then when things are on an even keel... reassess the problem.<ul type="square">[*]Can you take some time to get that Jeep home to Seattle sometime in the future?[*]Is that Jeep really worth dumping?[*]Are you really willing to take the financial hit on it?[*]What are the alternatives?[*]Could you have it shipped back to the Puget Sound area for less that the money you'd loose on the transaction?[*]Could you work on it in your leisure to repair it?[*]Can you replace it with the money you'd get from it's sale with a vehicle that will fit your needs.[*]Are you willing to drive that vehicle that will fit your needs through your college years.[*]Are you willing to get the needed education (and it takes time) to fix that Jeep right the first time?[*]Are you really wanting to learn to work on your own vehicle?[*]If you did get it back to Seattle would you have a place to store it?[*]Could you work on it at that place.[*]Is (as an example) a Honda or a Toyota going to fit your needs?[*]What's your priorities, a car/Jeep or an Education?[*]Are you in it for the long haul?[*]If you make a decision, and the going gets a little rough, will you stick by your plan?[*]Do you have a support system in place for help?
These are just a few of the questions I'd be asking myself if I were in your position.
