Default surprise---heres a drivetrain..........

ok, with the power steering mod waiting on pump, pulleys, n brackets from a friend at work, we now move to plethora of parts!!

showed up at quittin time yesterday with the engine, trans and case plus both driveshafts, donor is an '82 CJ7, now i need to put them in my '74 CJ5.....

the trans is a T5, and im pretty sure the case is a dana 300.." C(or 0? this one was unclear)300-15-2 "on the side of the case

while ive heard the t-5 is kinda lame for a V8, it should suffice behind my inline, especially with the condition of the current t-15,D-20...lets just call 'em W-O-R-N

few questions to start:

will this combo bolt right up to mine?

can i use the clutch i have in front of the T-15?
---its only got 23K on it....

should i do the "rotate the dana 300" thingy?--i dont plan on any serious hard core with this, and it is fiberglass...

anyways, sorry so long winded...still in shock

available SOON! '82 258 wont have pulleys, brackets, power steering pump or alt....may have carb

FREE to good home

You will need the T5 bellhousing clutch release bearing and fork but your clutch will work. I done this a couple of years ago but Im pretty sure thats all I had to have. I remember putting a new pilot bearing but I think that was after I shelled the T5 and put in the SM465 so check the nose shaft on the tranny before you try to put it in. Not to worry you but I had my T5 behind a 360 so I dont' think you shell yours.

I think you are going to need a tape measure!

That T-5 is pretty long, especially in a CJ5. I'm not saying it WON'T work, because I don't know. But I'm sure your rear driveshaft isn't going to be very long. And what little research I've done in the past always pointed to the transmission being too long for the short wheelbase.

And it "should" be a D300 transfer case....

I think your right, I have a T-177 in my CJ 5 and I only have a 13" driveshaft right now. THe T-5 is even a few inches longer. It's going to make some steep drive line angles in any case.
