While I agree with yj22 that they "think" that they are paying tribute to our flag and country. And also this trend didn't start this year. I also wonder why no "higher ups" said no to what they wear. I think it's sad that while they represent us for the world to see........they don't know or understand our rules and laws. Guess there’s not much hope of anybody selling these here.

Thanks for the URL Leve. That's now bookmarked for me.

I just wish I still had my manual of colors from my CAP cadet days. I remember a lot of it (was in the color guard), but I know I'm forgetting some of it. Took me a couple tries to get it right last time I tried to fold one of the flags at my store up! Good thing is my assistant manager spent 20 years in the Army (starting as an enlisted man and making it to Captain!) and doesn't mind reminding me of stuff I sometimes forget!

I suggest the posted merchandise is covered by the US Code, Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 8. In regards to the Jeep bikini top (as attractive as it may be - but not real practical given the relatively few folks who are above & looking down), the following clauses would apply:
[...]
The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.
[...]
The flag should never be used as a covering for a ceiling.
[...]

And as to that d*** doo-rag:
[...]
The flag should never be used as wearing apparel [...]

The flag should never be [...] used [...] in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way. [...]

No worry here - I'll not be buying...

Thanks JBTater - I never heard that about Mr. Foreman before. I think I'll go buy one of his appliances just because... and not that I need one either.

BTW, I don't have a problem w/ the athletes displaying the Colors appropriately - the small flag on their 'uniform' or on an appropriate staff - but draping over (ala a Batman/Superman cape) or wrapping around their shoulders (ala beachtowel/blanket) is wrong, just plain wrong.

Good point about the laurel wreath 'crown'... take the durn thing off for our Anthem!

Most of us learned all these things in the Boy Scouts or in school ....just being kids growing up in the height of the Cold War. Most of our parents were WWII veterans. Many of you are veterans of others.

A lot has happened since then. Unfortunately ...most of us aren't the same people (the nation) that we once were ..and have lost much of our pride and dignity ..in many matters. Lack of respect for our flag is just one of the most apparent symptoms of our general devolution.
