| | O/T G.W. coming to town.
He'll be here this sat. for a speech on the square here in my town. While that is pretty cool, it's costing a BUNDLE!!!!!!!!! to get things ready and looks like Ft. Knox downtown.
Lord help me since Payton's coming to visit on the same day. (I guess.......haven't heard from him in a couple days)

That's cool. I don't know if a president has ever stopped here, but Kennedy made a campaign speech. I didn't go.
And Barrister Lincoln practiced law in the next county north. I'd have gone to see him, if I had known at the time that he was there.

Bush Sr. stopped by here, when he ran for reelection. It was fort knox or better around tha area were he was going to be. The shame of it all was the sound system sucked and we couldnt here a word he was saying were we were sitting. So i started to get bored and looking around when i spotted a sniper on the roof tops. That was pretty cool. He hate lunch at a small deli, and was out of here in about two hours. Still way cool being able to see him.

They come here all the time. Interstates and streets get closed, like that stuff. Had a national convention here (in ’76 if I’m remembering the right year). I think Clinton had a girlfriend here (or maybe just a favorite trailer park to drag a $100 bill through) he was here so much.
I’m pretty sure they don’t come here for the way they get treated. Jimmy Carter was going to Arthur Bryant’s Barbecue. The secret service came in and told everybody they were going to have to get out, that the president was coming. The owner told them that if Jimmy Carter was to good to eat with his customers, he could go somewhere else, they weren’t going to run his regular customers off for any president. Jimmy came in and sat at a corner table. He was served on newspaper just like everybody else.
Hey, the Roto-Rooter man or a store cleark does more for us than the president and they ain’t a celebrities, why should the president be? |

I saw him at a rally in '00. It was a good time and I enjoyed it. being in one of the "battleground" states, both candidates have been here a lot. Eventually I'll get to see him at another rally.

In NH we get the presidents here all the time because we are the first to vote on election day and could potentially set the pace for the entire election. John Kerry came here to the store I work at and we even let him play one of our guitars, he wasn't too bad either. I think GW came through in '00 but we haven't seen him in town this time around - just as well in my opinion.

He stoppped by our neck of the woods earlier this month. Did a fine job screwing up the town. John Kerry decided to come too, so that made for even more fun Yeah Portland!
