4cyl motor the same from 87 up?

Just wondering if the 4cyl 2.5 in the 87-90 is the same as the fuel injected 4cyl 2.5 in the 91-95?

I know the 4.2 was changed to the 4.0 in 91 and I believe the 4cyl received a few more hp but I was wondering if I picked up an 87 rather than a 91 4cyl (tight budget...) would they essentially be the same motor or would one be better than the other?
