If you live out in the country, I would shoot them with a deer rifle. If you don't trap you could ask around and find a trapper to come and trap the beaver. Just remember that the damm is there becouse of the beaver. If you don't want a pond, you could have the damm blown out,the beaver wont rebuild ,something to do with whats left, after the blast.
Be real careful of richochets off water shots at shallow angles. Standard procedure out in the countryside is to use dynamite. Don't know if that's a realistic option for you. They can be a real nuisance to those around streams. Floods one party and steals the water flow from another. You are dealing with a rodent, and they are stubborn creatures. I don't think anything will deter them aside from their own death or extreme relocation. Maybe some biologist could tell you if there is some factor that brings them back, aside from flowing water.
1. Before you go much further...
2. It's not a bad idea to consult the Kansas State Laws on trapping and hunting fur bearing animals...
3. You never know... sometimes these little crttters have as many "rights" as you do.. and maybe even more.
4. I'd hate to see ya have to sell the Jeep to pay a fine...
Kansasjeeper I'm glad someone finally said it.
I was going to say "try coming out of the closet". hahahahah
Sorry guys........I had to.
Throw a few boxes of moth balls around the damn and wherever he likes to go. It could just irritate him enough to go somewhere else. Or you could set up a record player with some bagpipe music and that might do it too. Really I have no clue how to get rid of a beaver.
Thanks for the reaplies. Just to clarify, the dam we are talking about is a Dirt Dam with a road across the top holding water in a dug out pond. Tonight we set a few traps and since the weather has gone downhill i cant see my self sitting out there waiting for the lil turd(s). Hopefully this will get him, but otherwise it is time to head to plan 'E' or something. Thanks agian
