Default looking for t-5

Any body got a source for a t-5 tranny for a 81 cj5. And is it a bolt in for a t176?

Sources -
Ask here... some people have them. I have one but it needs a rebuild... if interested LMK and we can make a deal.
Check on e-bay - used and re-manufactured T-5s auction fairly often.
Do a search on google. There are rebuilders all around the country.
Check local parts trader listings... check other online Jeep parts listings like Dirt road Jeepads

Depends on your definition of "bolt-in".

The transmission bolt pattern is different from T-176 to T-5 so you will need correct BH
OAL T-176 is shorter than OAL T-5 so drive shaft mods will likely be needed
Correct transmission mount will be needed.
The trasmission cover in body tub is different too...
Also matters what engine is in the 81 CJ-5 and what engine the T-5 was behind.

The engine in question is a 258 six. I do have a bell housing, clutch, flywheel and linkage from a 258/t-4 setup so I would asume that would work? I've checked e-bay and only get mustang t-5s. Can they be used with an adaptor? sources? Advanced didn't seem to have anything.

Yes, the parts you have from 258/T-4 should work fine.

Only one on e-bay I can find right now... was another last week as well -

T-5 w/BH

Possible to use T-5 from Mustang. Would need the correct output shaft and adaptor to t/c... I don't know of any suppliers for these parts... might need to take from a donor. If you choose this route - beware not all T-5s have identical internal parts. Some will interchange some will not.

good luck... they are out there - waiting
