Default What to do with very old gas??

Well I dropped the tank for my commando and put all the nasty stinkin varnish gas in a bucket. It is about a little less than a half gallon. Now what should i do with it? I have it in the open hoping for it to evaporate, but how long would that take/ It is really stinking up my backyard. I don't want to pour it into the ground or kill weeds with it. By chance can i put it in a lamp and burn it?

Thanks

Dan, if you put it in a lamp and burn it, please put me on your death benefits list!

IMHO... put in a gas can and use it to wash parts....it's a great de-greaser.

I used ot habdle all of the local SEARS lawnmower/tracter/tiller/chainsaw repair.

over 90% of the returns we got were because of bad gas, I always had a full tank, and I never had any problems runnign that old gas, granted I never filled the tank with it, but a few gallons added to a tank of good gas wasnt even noticable

Where I come from there are a few days out of the year where the city will accept oil, gas, antifreeze, etc. for free. They even give you a new platic gas can if you turn in a metal one! Check with your town to see if they do something like this, or if a local auto shop will take it. Or you can put it in a coffee can and burn it outdoors. Just keep it out of your house (but I'm sure you knew that).

Yeah, burn it. Letting it evaporate (or washing parts) is worse than driving with hi HC emissions for a year! If you just absolutely don't want to put it in your daily driver, pour it in with your next batch of oil to be recycled.

I agree with pouring it in the oil to be recycled.

I'd also suggest just dumping it down the sewer.

BTW, that is an inside joke, my old company (worked for them for 10 years and they started messing me around) runs the sewer plant where Dan lives. I met him last year when I went down for a tour/party.

autozone takes used oil, throw it in your drain pan after your next oil change and let them deal with it. I know they also take antifreez and other fluids. I'm sure you wouldn't be the 1st one and if you had a bad head gasket you would probably have gas in your oil.

When did you get a comando?

In my vast experience with fire, my suggestion is BURN IT!!!! Haha, not to be a pyro, but it seems to be the easiset way to do it. Just toss it in a couple coffee cans and light a match. I've done it before, and i don't think it will melt the can or anything, just supplying the top layer of the gas with oxygen won't allow it to burn hot enough.....just my $.02

I might mix it with the oil and get it to autozone. i do give them enough water/oil lixes. I also thought about putting it into my coleman dual fuel lantern. I have run it with gas, like they say it could. So that may be a route.

Thanks guys... that stuff is really stinks!!!!!
