Rustoleum. Plain and simple - either brush or spray it on. The hardtop has enough texture to it already, no need to spend $80 for Herculiner.

Rattle can enamel will be fine. IMHO shinny paint on a fiberglass top looks odd. Go with a satin or semigloss. I had a metal top on a CJ-5 that I painted with a Wagner type painter. It was spitting and splattering the paint so bad it left a texture like Morrocan leather. LOL But I kinda liked it... hid the imperfections.

IMHO... try Duplicolor Truck Bed #TR250... it comes in a spray can and "glops" on to keep the factory bumpiness of the OEM texture.

Leve, how do you like that stuff? I'm using it for the inside of my tub, but I've heard mixed reviews. Oh, and for the hardtop, if there is a Car Quest in your town, ask about their Industrial/Tractor paint. Can be rolled or sprayed. Comes in basic colors, no mixing (need to thin with Naptha to spray, but that is all), fairly low odor. Dries slow, but seems to be fairly tough. Best part--$25 a gallon. |

The stuff's held up quit well on the hardtop (4 years). It's time to re-coat again. I used it on my Bronco II under the fenders and it held up to the rocks, salt and yech sprayed by the tires. All in all, it's not a bad product. Would I use it in the bed of the CJ? Nope.... I don't think it's that good of a product.

I rattlecanned a hardtop with dark grey hammerite. Came out darn good! Texture plus color differentiation. How is that Duplicolor stuff, Leve? It's cheap enough, $39.95 a gallon less 15% on sale here. |

I rolled on DuPont 123 for vinyl. It looks just like the factory finish. |
