| | | Noise in the drive train
Hey;
Latly when I have been in park for a while and put the shifter into drive, there is a loud noise from underneath the jeep. The noise is a loud ?KA-CHUNK? as it is put into gear. I have crawled under and tried to rotate the drive train but there is no movement. The transfer case has all bolts, and has been flushed and refilled. Another thing that I have noticed is that when I?m wheeling and I?m on a hill the sound is louder, maybe because of stress on the drivetrain????
Any help where to start would be good?. |

Check the condition of the tranny/t-case mount. Mine is cracked and it clunks around too. Hopefully soon to be fixed though.

Sometimes when the tranny up shifts, the case will hit against the uniframe if the transmission mount is bad. Get under the trans and try pushing up on the case; if it moves upward, then the mount is bad. If it is bad, don't put off the repair too long as it will put extra stress the driveshaft u joints.
