O.K. you guys have got me riled up..... I am an electro mechanical tech/engineer kinda guy and I swear the CHEAP has krept into every thing from houshold appliances to 24000 bank note "cash" a minute sorting machine..I work on stuff from IBM,TOSHIBA,BELL&HOWELL,OC'E,and many others and I try not to buy parts from the manufacture and second source most every thing or make it myself because there parts SUCK..This is my job and I get paid pretty good to take some one elses designed machine and make it faster, stronger, and more durable with out buying from the Manufacturer....My friend in seattle is a Mech/Eng for HP and gets in trouble if he designs anything that uses any hardware like screw's nuts/bolts because it costs money and it is cheaper to incorportate it into the plastic injection mold..... gotta love CHEAP!!!!!!!!

Besides being a jeep fan, I'm also a Porsche nut. I know it's probably not gonna be the most capable suv but take a look at what it's gonna have under the hood, the base engine is a 350hp V8 and the optional engine is gonna be a 450hp turbocharged V8!

A lot of good 350 hp will do you when you're sitting on a rock watching the guts fall out of your axles.

Tazman speaks the truth. Maybe someday DC will get their heads out of their asses and see the light, but until that day there's plenty of SFA Jeeps around to keep me happy.

Think about if they IFS their whole lineup. Years will pass and they'll wonder why very few of their vehicles are being used by the offroading crowd. They'll see their mistake.

Sure. Here here. Just saying that in looking at my 4wd and sport utility today, they had an article on their own super tour. They took a number of vehicles on the road from trail to trail, and the majority of them were Tj's! (Strangely, they all seemed to be red...) If we were writing on this message board in, say, 93 or so, and we saw a hardcore trail article, would the majority of Jeeps have been 3 year old YJ's? No, they would have been (and were) 60's and 70's CJ's! The capability of the TJ meant that the YJ sort of got skipped as the popular trail rig to have. I saw this happen, as I was a YJ owner at the time.
If Jeep reads Jp, or 4wd, or almost any of the magazines covering trail runs, they will see TJ's all over. This is not because they're pretty. The new coil suspension just works. My prediction is you won't see Liberty's all over the Rubicon. Just a guess...
I'm also guessing that TJ's generally outsell the old YJ significantly, and that's partly due to us, the enthusiasts.
Isuzu makes fun of the off-road recreational market. It's time to OWN that group for DC. After all, we'd all rather drive an old Jeep that does what we want, than a brand new truck that can't!
