Default \'90 Cherokee Sport? Opinions

I'm looking at a '90 Cherokee Sport to buy. 4 liter, auto trans, its the non fulltime t-case. It has alot of miles (110,000) but looks well cared for. The main problem is it has had wiring short in the wiring over the passenger side front fender well. I can buy this Jeep for an obscenely cheap price. If I do buy it the plan is to try to fix the existing wiring and if thats not possible, put in a new harness. My questions are, could the computer be shorted out also? and if it is,about how much are they? Is there any typical problems with this year/model that I should look for? Any general opinions? TIA

Well I have an 89 Sport and this is my take on things. Look for a cracked exhaust manifold, lifter tick, piston slap, loose front end, leaky vave cover, pluged ccv system, oil soaked air filter, vac operated front axle disconnect, and a few other things I can't remember right now. Unfortunately for you the jeep needs to be running for you to see/test most of this and with a short preventing starting these tips don't help much. As for if the puter is fried I don't know. The price of a used one here in Illinois is anywhere from $20-$200 depending on where you go. With you being in Hawaii things may be differant. Drop me an email if you have any more questions.
