Does anyone have a 2 battery set-up? Got pics? I am probably going to upgrade to a 200 amp alt but I want to add a second battery also. Gotta find a good place to put it first.....any ideas? If it's not dirty, you aren't doing it right. ![]() |

I thought about that myself but gotta get the alternator first. If you have done the K&N air tube mod then you should have enough room where the stock air box used to be. Now I put my coolant overflow bottle there when I did my radiator upgrade so I've got a nice big empty spot where the factory pressure bottle was. I was thinking about making a tray for a battery up there. You could always put a battery in the back somwhere in battery box but then you're looking cable all the way back there. Hey tazman, I've got a duo-Optima (yellow and red) setup routed through a Wrangler battery isolator. I also have a Mean Green 200 amp continuous duty alternator. I couldn't find an XJ kit anywhere, so I finally had a custom installed performed. It was expensive, but I've been very happy with the results to date. He's how I handled it. 1) Optima yellow deep cycle (secondary battery) 2) 25 feet of 1 gauge high quality fine wire cable. 3) Military connectors. 4) Wrangler battery isolator for battery management with LED switch on console A) Runs from primary only (charge and usage). B) Runs from primary but charges secondary. C) Runs from both. 5) Swapped out the stock air box for Rusty's air tube (makes room for the extra battery). 6) Custom made secondary battery box. It was a time consuming but fairly straight forward install. The custom wiring was time consuming aspect of the job. I still need to change the main junction of the battery and electrical system lead which is only a 8 or 10 gauge wire to 4 gauge, beef up my ground and beef up my alternator to relay wire. All my above work, is still being clogged by not finishing the job. Here is a link to a great article on electrical upgrades that piaa_nissan initially found. http://www.olypen.com/craigh/charge.htm. I haven't done the air tube set-up yet. There is a K&N filter in the airbox, so I didn't plan on changing it. As far as the coolant bottle location, that is where the air compressor for the front ARB is. Guess I might just have to go with the tube set-up just for the room. If it's not dirty, you aren't doing it right. ![]() |

Hey taz, I need to setup my server space either on my ISP account or AOL account, I used to be very involved in web development and now I'm very lazy with it. Anyway, I'll set this up ASAP and get a few photos up on the web. Do I loose points for a dirty engine? Hey Taz (or anyone else), I finally got photos of my duo-battery install. I swapped my red-top Optima into another car, putting an Interstate in it's place, but if you want me to post photos just let me know. Kent ![]() Need a lift REALLY badly!! |
