Default Death wobble on my 93 XJ Cherokee (Fix???)

I have a 93 Cherokee XJ with a 4.5 inch Rough country suspension lift. Its always had the death wobble in the front end at various speeds and driving surfaces.. I was hoping after reading hundreds of forums the adjustable track bar would fix the problem. It still has the death wobble. Which way should it be adjusted? I extend the track bar and it only gets worse. When I shortin the track bar to its farthest point (shortest) it still wobbles alot but not as bad. What can I do? What Am I doin wrong. Please help!!!

Make sure your wheels & tires are balanced.

Also go through all the bushings on any pivot point or suspension component. Make sure everything is good and solid and then go through and tighten everything.

I had the death wobbles on my 89 and we had a loose upper track bar from what I remember.

Default Post Jeep Question to the right forum

Suggest you post this question in the JEEP forum, not the Off-Roaders Lounge.

"The Off-Roader's Lounge - This board is for any topic not related to off-road vehicles. Hunting, fishing, politics, jobs, family, dog, job etc are the topics to post here."

Probably find more technical help there.

in regards to my earlier post. my friend had worn out bushings. he replaced them, but still the wobble insisted. he went through and tightened his lift kit, and that did the trick, as stated earlier. good luck

Wink 93 Cherokee death wobble

Hi Holster;
I had a few of these as a mechanic and owner, so here goes:
Get a buddy to see-saw the steering wheel back and forth about 3" each way for about 30-50 times while you feel EVERY joint in the front end for looseness. My old bomb had worn bearings in the steering gearbox shaft just above the Pittman Arm.
My buddys' Cherokee had old bushings and a worn track bar, and he beat it up at 40mph on rough dirt roads, too. We were 2 busy guys fixing all of that so's we could drive straight.
In the Marine Corps, one of my drivers 'found' a foxhole with a Chevy K30, and the resulting bent front axle made the un-fixable death wobble. We had to swap in a new front axle to fix that one.
