| | Brake shoe/pad recommendations? Does anyone have brake pads & shoes that they would recommend for my 97 Cherokee Sport? Pretty much everything is stock on the Jeep, and the majority of the driving is on paved roads, with occasional off-roading (dirt roads & pastures, no trail driving). I'll likely also put new rotors on the front, so any rotor recommendations are welcome. Thanks in advance! |

| | Pads. Shoes & Rotors I just use regular pads or shoes from either Advance Auto Parts, Autozone or Auto Value. Just remember harder composition for pads or shoes will wear the rotors or drums more. As far as rototrs as long as there is no deep scoring, and if there true (I use a dial guage) I just brake the glaze on the rotots with sand paper and re-install. THeone thing you wnat to be sure t do is lubricate hte pins for the disk calipers so that they don't hang up.
Good luck,
Bill |

| | I had a brake squeal I couldn't get rid of by any means I could think of. When I replaced the pads with ceramic ones, it went away. (The brakes work quite well, by the way...)

| | I think coppergrease must be an equivalent of never-sieze, which I use for a lot of things. For brake lube I use Permatex Disc Brake lube. It is a synthetic grease that comes in a jar with a brush, similar to the never-sieze jar. Lubrication at these points is important, both to quell noise and to prevent rust. I use never-sieze on all the threads, and disc brake lube on sliding surfaces.
