Angry Noise in Dash 2000 Cherokee Limited

While driving the wife's vehicle today I noticed a clicking coming from the left side of the dash. It almost sounded like a circuit breaker making and breaking. It was day time so no lights were on. I couldn't pin point exaclty where it was coming from but did pretty much locate it to the left side of the dash. I stopped and started the car a few times and then all of a sudden it stopped just like it had started. It appeared to be in the vincinity of the instrument cluster, all guages were working fine. Any ideas or thoughts about what it might be would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advacne,
Bill

Are your speedometer and odometer working normally? Sometimes they click if something gets stuck

This happens even when the vehicle is not moving and in park. Odometer and trip odometer are electronic. I believe the speedometer may be also.

I have an '87 that chatters for a while after the battery has been disconected and reconnected. I finally traced it to the radio with tape deck. It seems to be some sort of initialization function.

Default Buzz Frequency

Yes it was. However it stopped just as suddenly as it started.
