Overhead consol on 96 xj Country 4.0 HO

trip computer not working: mpg, dte, trip etc..,temp and compass work though.. anybody got any ideas where to start looking for the problem?
A bit of background; fairly new to being a jeeper, bought thr xj last spring.
It had the engine replaced before I bought from a dealer. Maybe they forgot to hook something up?
Not a big deal.., Just like to have Everything work
