auto trans fluid question?

What is the diffrance in Mercon-dextron 3 ,& Mopar plus4 trans fluids?
And are they compatable?
I have a 95 zj tthat the previous owner used mercon dex-3 in and the repairmanual I have siysto use mopar plus 4.
I know that flushing the system is a pain due to the tork converter . should I continue with the mercon-dextron 3 or top with mopar plus 4 or several flush and runs.(no toilet involved)
any experances with nixed fluids and the out come of it would be great info .
