fishfighter, body lifts are a good for anything other than XJ's, but they are unibody construction so there is no gap between the frame and the body for a lift.
I would say a 3 inch lift should be alright without too much money, brake line relocations, spring spacers in the front(new spring since you need em), possible 1 inch TC drop, and if you do a lot of flexing, i would get a SYE kit. I've also seen people use F-150 springs and dakota rear leaves to lift it about 4 inches Jeep Cherokee Suspension - XJ Budget Lift - "How-To" Lift Your Jeep Cherokee XJ 4" on a Budget

Thanks to everyone that responded. After doing a lot of research, I've opted to go with the 2" budget lift from Rocky Road because I can keep everything else stock; I wanted not to have to do any more mods than necessary if I were to get a 3" or higher lift (basically because of money). And, I didn't want to get such a high lift that my Jeep looks ridiculous with 28" tires.

I will replace my front coils with factory-equivalent aftermarket ones and add a polyurethane spacer; supposedly this keeps the ride as close to stock on the highway. I am also getting heavier duty rear leaf springs that are stock like if you had factory towing (I added a towing hitch a few years ago and do tow things so it sounded like a good idea). Then there are lift shackles and lift blocks for the leaf springs in the kit. I read, on various sites, and a couple of people told me how the add-a-leaf wasn't the best thing to do and it was better to either get bigger springs or use spacers instead with the factory ones.

I also got a super kit to replace all of the rubber bushing with the poly ones, since I am going to have to get an alignment anyway, I might as well replace the ~230,000-mile rubber components, most I know are worn out.

Is there anything else I should replace that would affect alignment that probably would be a good idea to replace before I get an alignment?

I am pretty excited about getting started on this next weekend and I'll post some pics of the parts and the Jeep.
