| | OT Jeep Patriot I have seen this Jeep on the web, but have not been down to the local dealer to check it out yet. I hear that it is the reaplcement (kinda sorta) for the XJ. I still love my old XJ's, but it would be nice to get something new. And this seems like it might be the answer since I like the XJ styling a lot. I can't see myself buying a Grand Cherokee.
Anyway, my question is, does anyone have one or have they driven one? I would like to get a little feedback since everyone here seems to be a little more knowledgeable about they way Jeeps perform. I have read a few reviews on Edmunds, but I think the reviewers there are more into driving an SUV on the street and not offroad.

| | If your looking for an inexpensive new Jeep and aren't concerned with off-roading, the Patriot with IFS might fit your bill. If it rides like the Liberty you'd be better off getting a more functional JK or JKL because the ride is the same and they have better capability.

| | It looks small. I know it's based on the Nitro - so I guess it's more of a "small-ute". Test it and write what it's like. From an XJ owner's view please.
I was curious about them too. I'm trying to talk my wife into looking at them. She really didn't like my XJ though...

| | I almost rented one over the weekend to go to the Bash......until I looked underneath.....I think my wife's minivan has more ground clearance....and the gas tank is parked on a nice spot to impact about every rock you find......
No...it's a mall crawler only....

| | I think the worst thing next to IFS that DC has done was to end the XJ platform. The newer models seem more suited to the urban jungle. I for one would have continued to buy updated XJ's. Having owned four of them I can honestly say they were some of my most capable rigs with very predictable problems (i.e. cooling systems sucked, axle leaks, door hinges, hatch issues) Plus it was nice to be able to goto a U-pull it yard and grab parts from earlier models that easily bolted up or parts from newer models that bolted up. A objective review of the new rig would be nice.
