Default Front U-Joint Repair time?

Forgive me for not doing a search to get the answer...but I'm on the road in a hotel with a slow dial up....doing a search is not fun.

Wifes 89 Cherokee...Dana 30 in the front...U-joint on one side is bad...not surprised....almost 200K miles on it....

I might make it home this weekend for 48 hours....If I have the parts, how long per wheel to replace the u-joints and do any other maint work that might need to be done?

Default Re: Front U-Joint Repair time?

I replaced 1 side last year. Did it in the shop with a mechanic present. The wheel bearing turned out to be shot too, so we replaced the whole hub. Toughest part was getting the knuckle loose from the axle. I never saw so much violence used (BFH) to take something apart without destroying it. Whole job took about 1.5 hour. But as said, an experienced mechanic helped me out. Sometimes an axle seal also turns out to be bad...
