I just installed trailer lights wiring on my 94 cherokee, using a "hoppy" flat converter. Lights work ok but, my AC, cruise control and elec. radiator fan don't. Traced it to 15amp fuse in slot 16 under the hood. Reading the shop manual, it says that the trailer connection should have a 10 amp breaker on the trailer wire and three plug in relays to the tail, brake, turn lights. However, after removing the left quarter panel, I found no plugs for the relay nor the circuit breaker. Whats up with that?, is there some intermediate connector that I need to install before the trailer wire connector, if so, where can I get one?

Thanks to all those who responded so quickly, heres what I found out:
After you attach the T-connector into the connector behind the plastic cover of the left rear quarter panel and run the other end(four-flat connector) out to the trailer hitch, then go buy yourself a Draw-Tite modulator (part #18193 or 18146)and twenty feet of wire, one inline fuse (10 amp). Connect the twenty feet of wire to the positive lead on the battery along with the 10 amp fuse. Run the wire all the way back to the trailer hitch area, then attach that wire (+) to the red lead on the Draw-tite modulator. Then attach the other connector (four-flat) to the T-connector (four-flat), and voila, the addition of the separate positive wire directly from the battery by-passes all the other electrics so no more blown fuse for the A/C, aux fan or cruise control. For more info check the website below or see the Draw-tite website: http://www.fortune3.com/comp66099/?p...&&il=1 |

The link below has a cute little diagram that shows the electical connections and why the new by-pass positive wire is necessary. The parts guy at the Jeep dealer had no Idea what I was talking about, this surprises me, I would have thought this question would come up on a regualar basis. http://www.drawtite-hitches.com/electrical/modulite.htm
