This is my first Jeep and it's greatest vehicle I have ever owned. I had it for a year, now and just love it. I have a few minor problems, but now the rear door won't open and I am getting ticked! Please if anyone can help! 94 grand cherokee limited.
what do you mean by wont open? ever? not from inside or out. is the lock working? have you done any investigative work to find out. i know the lock on my door was "broken" so i took the panel off and come to find out one of the retainers had popped off that holds the latch mechanism in place.
but to help you out, you might want to give some more basic facts.
In my limited, the left rear door lock never unlocks with the master lock switch on the drivers door, but does with the passenger door, or manually. Some day I might attempt to fix it.
If your door only will not open from the inside, check the child safety mechanism - if it is enguaged the door will not open from the inside, but should from the outside.
If someone pushes the outside button at the same time you opereat the lock - either power or manualy on the door, the syncronizeation of parts is screwed up - manual lock button possition is off, and the opperation feels funny but a little finess without removing the doorpannel will make it work again.
**Just one hour ago, my drivers door inside handle lost a spring or something... the handle still opens the door, but now it is not a snug handle - it just flops and swings in the breeze. If I fix it tomorrow, I will probably check my lock switch in the drivers door while Im at it.
