Default Good Little Mule!

Well despite a minor oil leak, i decided to give my Jeep (little mule) a work out. The trails were covered in snow and ice
even the sand dune I drive over all the time was frozen. But my fresh 2.5 walked over every thing I through at it. Its
bone stock now besides a set of Regul Trailblazer ATs I bought, a set of offroad lights, an Aiwa (Cheap I know) CD
player, Turbo 2 muffler and a K and N air filter. I love that Jeep , my first vehicle. I love how it squeezes down
those tiny trails dirt bikes make. I think after I get my engine squared away I'll put about a 3 inch lift on it.
Just had to write about this amazing piece of machinery. Jeeps rule!

I named my Jeep Little Mule because somehow it reminded me of, this movie I watched, all I remember is, this little arab
guy saying we'll take little mule, it was beefed up Land Cruiser I think. So I was driving it throught the woods and
said Little Mule, thats what I'll name it. And it has a funny little wind to the engine, reminds me of a pissed
off, stubborn mule.

Amen!

Amazing where you can go with a stock XJ on a set of street tires. After next weekend I'll let you know how it feels to have grown up tires on mine.

Have fun.

The movie was Romancing the Stone (1984) Starring: Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner. The Arab guy was a Columbian drug lord and the "Lil' Mule" was a Ford Bronco ll.

Default The truth about the famous "Little Mule"

You are mostly correct.

The Little Mule - Pepe - is actually a heavily modified 1984 Ford Bronco (full-size) that is owned by Juan, the bellmaker. The villagers tell them that he owns the only car in the village. He replies, "They are such comedians! They mean my little mule, Pepe." After driving around town touring the city and running from drug lords, he is quoted as saying, "Now Pepe is warming up." Then he jumps a river and drives off to safety.

It is supposed that "old Juan" is actually a drug-runner, since he has such a fine vehicle for running them and lives in luxury only found in Columbian drug circles. I am certain bell making is not that lucrative.

I once saw "Pepe" at the L.A. Auto Show, as a kid. The Bronco was quite modified, with 35" tires, slight lift, full roll cage (cleverly disguised), roll bar/light bar, long-travel suspension, etc... I wanted Pepe very much as a kid. Later, my obsession transitioned into my XJ and TJ.
