Default 89 GW fuel pump

Greeting FSJ'ers. I have a problem installing a new fuel pump. Napa part, and I double checked with the books that it's the right part #. Now, the pump outlet has a pipe fitting that goes to a steel line which attaches to filter and carb. OK, the new pump outlet is about 1/2" shorter than the old pump outlet, and my steel line can only reach 3/8" closer. Doing some quick math....I'm screwed. What's the deal here? I can't be the first one to replace a fuel pump with a Napa part? Can I???? Is there any kind of adapter I can screw on the pump to give me a little more reach or do I need to start bending some steel line? Any opinions or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

what about other years of AMC engs of the same size. perhaps an earlier model eng will have the proper looking pump??? perhaps 89 was a transition year for pump configurations and the nu er model is all that napa has.

As soon as I saw the pic I recognized the truck! I used to subscribe to the ifsja mailing list until my work got wise. Only took em a year or so. I wound up just futzing with the line until I got it to fit. By then I had gummed up the threads in the pump pretty good, so that helped a lot. Anyway, thanks for the help Ken. Hey, didn't there use to be a ken to english dictionary somewhere? (Insert smiley face here)
