Tranny Help Please

I have a question about the TH400. Someone just got it from the Junkyard, put it in a J-20 and 4 days later it doesn't shift, just sits there? Any quick things to look at. 1975 J-20, 360 that run good, Q-track, just tranny stopped working. $300. Good buy??? My friend has a Turbo 350 but will that work at all?

check the fluid level or the filter could be clogged not allowing suffecient pressure.

$300 is worth it either way if the body is decent.

the TH350 is not any help at all
