Default TH400 help

I have a '79 CJ7 with a 258CI, TH400 auto trans and MOD 20TC. It came with a B&M shifter (YUK)! I changed it out for a shifter and console out of an XJ. Now I need some way to operate my back up lights. I was told that there is a switch on the trans itself? I would also like to install some kick down system. Please help I really don't want to use a toggle switch.

79CJ7, 258 CID, turbo 400 trans, mod 20 t-case
MC2100 carb, York OBA, XJ shifter and console
92 Cherokee 2"BB.

Normally, if you have a TH400, the switch is on the steering column. That works only if you have a column shift. There is no switch on the tranny itself. I would guess that the switch for the backup lights may be in the new console somewhere. If you are getting a shift console out of an XJ, they never used the TH400, so I don't know if any of those trannys had the BU light switch in it. The kickdown is easier. The solenoid is on the left side of the tranny just above the oil pan. It uses a switch on the accelerator pedal that closes when the pedal is almost floored.

For your info the auto trans in an XJ has a combanation B/U light switch and neutral start switch mounted to the passenger side of the trans. That is with the AW4 anyway.

Thanks Guys, I installed a toggle switch last night and it will work out fine. If you extend your index finger when you put it in reverse you can hit the switch at the same time. I don't know if I will bother with the kickdown or not.
