Default J10 TH400 question

Hello. I just got a 1976 J-10. I've got no Park, Reverse, Drive, 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Basically, no matter what gear you are in, it is still free wheeling. I changed the fluid and filter, but no change. While I had the pan off, I checked the basic operation and the gear selector is rotating and clicking through the gear detents. Any suggestions?

I guess what I was getting at, that it seemed odd not to have anything, and I couldn't think of one single item that would effect park, reverse, & drives. I've got the BW1339 and I guess the chain could be broken, but that seems like it would be noisy as hell. I've got the TH400 Smartflix video on order, but it hasn't come in yet, so I'm getting anxious. I was kinda hoping someone had some pointers, or starting points.

By the way, here is a link to the video I'm waiting on, sounds promising. Smartflix is a great site. So far, all of the videos I've gotten have been very good. Engines instruction video: GM Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission Rebuilding Series by Paul Zank

I hardly ever check this forum, it's so dead. Try putting the trans in park, and the transfer case in gear. Make sure it's not in neutral. Try to push the vehicle- if it rolls, there's probably a transfer case issue. If it feels locked in place, the trans has issues. Good luck. PM me if you have any q's, also try International Full Size Jeep Association
