the free play can usually be solved with an alignment, if parts are worn out then youre lookin at new steering components. as for the idle, id need to know if its carberated or fuel injected. happy to help, you can also private message me.

Find out what is loose in the steering. Have someone get in the cab and start it up. Keep it in park, don't move anywhere!
Have the person move the steering wheel left and right while you are inspecting all of the steering parts underneath. Stay clear of the moving parts (including engine belts and the fan.)
Look for play in tie rod ends, steering gear box, etc. Find out what you need to replace or tighten to stop the slop in your steering before having it aligned.
Like TNCowboyPRCA said, is it fuel injected or carb?

i had to replace the track bar just last week (no grease fittin from factory)and i know that has really nothin to do about the freeplay in steering but it will make the other rod ends wearout fast from the vibration.OH and you just put a TBS in right??Did you find out if you adjust it's position for the right voltage output when you installed it?(4.2volts on connector D as negative, and B as positive with key in ON position and connectors still connected)....make sure the throttle cable is free to close all the way down.if that cant get it i have more info to try
