Engine Upgrades for a \'94 Rodeo

Has anyone out there ever tried swapping other engines into a Rodeo? My '94 Rodeo is not doing so well. I have to check the oil a couple of times a week and the transmission is near its end as well. I was thinking of putting a GM 4.3L Vortec in there and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it will fit. If so, what problems were encountered and what special modifications needed to be made?
