New Purchase 0f 78' Scout

I have just purchased a 78 Scout for my new project 4x4. It is honestly in great shape body-wise, but needs a new interior along with some transmission, and transfer case work.

The guy I bought the truck from had 31's on the front and 33's on the back. He lifted it three inches and then since it was unlevel, he simply changed the size of the front tires. Since I just found out that he didn't get it geared to account for the different sizes, I am afraid that the transfer case is kapoots. It is really hard to get it into and out of 4-wheel drive. What do you think?

Also, are there any transmissions out there or should I just rebuild the one I have?
