Default Scout Motors...

Hey I just got a 64 Scout 800 and I'm new to these trucks but can anyone tell me what other motors will drop straight in and bolt up to this guy? The 4 cylinder in it is completely effed. Oh and if you know where I can get one for a decent price that'd be good to know too. Thanks.

Unless there's a rod sticking out the side of the block, don't give up on it. It requires an incredible amount of effort to kill an international motor.

On the motor swap, I'm pretty sure v8 scout 80/800 bodies are not the same as 4 cyl ones. Most likely, the only drop in (there's no such thing by the way) that you can do is another 4 cyl. If you do a real swap to something non-international, go for fuel injection. A monkey can build a megasquirt.

to answer the motor question.........there was a 152 and 196 in the 4 cyl motors. The 2 will interchange. To drop a v-8 in takes a little work but it's not bad if you know what you are doing. But don't give up on the old little 4 if there are no holes......those motors are tough.
