| | | New Edelbrock Quadrajet ??\'s
Well my Rochester Q-jet that I bought from the yard a couple of months ago is pretty much FUBAR. I was quoted $180-$200 for a complete rebuild, i.e. bushings, metering rods, etc, etc. Is anybody running the Edelbrock Quadrajet? Are they any good? I know it's $420 new but I'd rather just put the money towards something new, plus I'm getting my tax return soon . I just want something hassle-free for once. Thanks for any help!

So far the Edelbrock has done a world of good for me. I bought the 1904. I was having troubles getting exactly the power the motor was claimed to have had until I used that carb. It does not supply all the power possible but it provides the best all around driveability and gas mileage. It sits on a Recon performance engine 350HP. Also the Performer as supposed to the RPM manifold made a huge difference. Great low end power and across the range.
To answer you question....Yes I like the Carb...expensive though but remember it is new.

Got a 1902, and really like it. Well built unit, bolt it on and go. I have only one problem, typical of a Q-jet. It gets to about a 50 degree uphill angle and starts to bog. I occasionally have to run some hill climbs in reverse. If I had it to do over again, I think I would have saved some more money, and went with TBI, because of how I wheel. My .02..........

| | 10 hg of vacuum at idle on distributor port
I have an 86 chevy k10, 350hp, mild cam, Edel carb 1904. The (H) port or distributor port at idle has approx 10hg at 800rpm. Edelbrock techs told me it is the timed port for the distributor. The egr port is also timed and is reading almost 0hg at idle and my manifold vacuum is close to 20hg. What could cause this? Also I have hesitation at high speed accelerating with the distributor line plugged. I have changed the fuel filter and air cleaner. Initial timing is at 12btc.

| | q-jets
i run a mixture of q-jets, the base model was off of a 454, i've rebuilt it and have to use a spacer so the secondaries will open, love that sound (unfortunetly so do the cops)the only problem that i'm having is keeping it full of gas believe it or not I've been told that its not suposed to work at all on a small block. could be why my tires are bald( 33x12.50)
