Default Engine Swap

I currently have a 1995 Chevy K1500 Stepside Z71 5.7L V8. Current engine currently has 106000 miles on it and I am thinking of replacing it for some more power. Is there a vortec engine that will fit with little to no mods? I am looking for the same size engine if not a little bigger

When I replaced the engine in my 93, I warmed up the original engine. I converted to roller camshaft / roller lifters from a TPI motor. I installed headers, 454 throttle body, Police 350 injectors, and a K&N air filter. I reprogrammed the PROM chip myself.

Default Engine Swap

I have a 91 GMC 4x4 reg cab with 5 spd manual trans 305. I swapped mine out with GM performance crate motor 290hp 326ft tq from summitracing.
Works great and was cheap on my pockets. And with almost a 100 more Hp than my stock 305 I have no problem running 38's.

yea and ive know alot of people inculding my dad that has had problems with the vortec systems. they have a tendency to blow out intake gaskets if ur not careful when its cold... 106k is not alot on those tbi motors at all. mine just rolled over 220700 miles and by far runs like a champ! i would take it out and rebuild it. bore it .30 over, maybe stoke it and if u really want to do, heads for it. or at least port and polish the ones that are on there. do an airgap intake to help with flow, and headers are almost a must... just things like that would be way cheaper than a new motor or swpping it to a vortec. and itll create way more power. no reason why u cant just modify what u have. but if u really wanna just swap it they should be about the same with mounting places.. u just gotta upgrade ur fuel pump to a high pressure one thats like 300 bucks itself and just make sure all ur lines are good enough to handle it.. and not to mention all the ecu stuff...

if u cant find an out-of-tank one u might have to look into the in-tank ones that the chevy vortec motors use...
