take this how you want it but personally I think I would just keep the Dodge...At being almost 7 years old I would think your truck is paid off or almost anyway. You probably arn't going to get 1/4 of the $$$ for it that the new truck is worth on trade in! You are talking about a lift and tires/wheels and everything.

If it were me I would spend the money and put in a built tranny into your dodge (in the early years the torque converter was a big problem to the early death of the diesel transmission!) Then I would spend some money on mods to that cummins...you say it has no power adders right now...For a few grand you can be up to 400-500 horse and walk circles around any new production truck.

Not sure if its a 2006 your looking at or waiting for an 07...if its an 2007 I would wait a year or two no matter which of the big three you go with...the new emission laws come out this year and there are HUGE changes and chances of big problems.

So all in all...if your dodge is in good shape other than the tranny, I would honestly keep it and turn it into a power house! even add 100 ponies and you will be happy...for a short time anyway.

If you are intrested in keeping it look at the TDR Turbodieselregisty.com you will be amazed at what you will find there!

My Cummins in my truck right now is to the tune of 800Hp and will move up more this winter...can't wait

I've driven the Duramax, I too would take it over anything else on the market. You can fit 255/85's or 285/75's stock, 305/70's with a little trimming. Some guys are running leveling kits and up to 315's with some trimming. If that's not enough, I'd look at the RCD kit. Keep in mind that the IFS takes quite a beating with bigger tires.

I want to add, I've driven hte Duramax as well. I often ran my "dealership errands" in an 01 SWB EC duramax. It was a comfy truck. The real thing I noticed was I wasm't sitting as high up in my seat (my '94 chevy seat havea "body lift") and of course, susp, wise couldn't touch a dodge 4x4 cummins).

The driveability was real nice, and it was a comfortable truck. Unfortunateely, I didnt get tp pound it around like I would my truck on as regulsr day.

ps, forgive ,me tonight guys, Ive been drinking tequila agaian. you know how we act together
