I was wondering what fluid you use in your Borg Warner T5 transmission... I've heard everything from gear lube to auto tranny fluid... It's about time for me to change mine, and I figured it'd be about time to ask... The book says to use ATF, But many people have told me to add a quart of sae30 motor oil to it. I think it just thickens it up a bit. I tried it when I had the tranny out last but did'nt really seem to notice a difference at all. All the times before I have always run all ATF. Alrighty, that was what I was thinking, but wanted to be sure since I saw someone on the SWB Jeep board here talking about using gear lube in their T5 and having it work good... The tolerances are pretty close and gear lube would cause alot of excess heat. If you run motor oil in a WC T-5 the EP additive will distroy the carbon syncros I run 15w-50 synthetic but mine was redone with bronze syncros. The factory does reccomend ATF, Mobile does make a synthetic ATF if you wanted to go that route.
