85 Silverado 2x4 > 4x4?

I just bought an 85 Silverado that's a 2x4 and am considering converting it to a 4x4. Has anyone ever done this? If so, could you point me in the right direction as to where to begin. Are there kits out there? Thanks!

Thumbs up 2x4 to 4x4

pull the front mounts off of a 4wd frame, get the crossmembers and the shackle mounts. remove your front suspension (like 10 bolts holding it to the frame) and bolt everything up. you'll need a 4x4 steering box too. swapping the front suspension is WAY easier than a frame swap

Also, don't forget the necessary transmission work. You'll need a 4WD drivetrain. Transfer case, front driveshaft ... etc.
