Help! 97 Yukon Posi-trac question

I just got out muddin this past weekend and got stuck. After checking out the situation i found only me passenger rear tire was pulling while my driver rear tire was on solid ground. So i called the Dealership with my Vin today to ask what kind of rear end was assembled in my verhicle.

The guy i spoke with was quite certain that all 97 yukon 1500's with pushbutton 4x4 were equipped with positive traction rear ends.

So to you guys i ask, are there any checks i can make to determine if the rear end i have now is posi-trac or not and what should i check to determine if the rear end is savable.

I really dont want to stick another rear end under it unless i am going up to a 3/4 ton.
