NP231d question - need help

On top of this TC, there is a 4-pronged plug. the thing that plugs into it is a rubber piece that has a green and orange (hose??) and two other lines that aren't going to anything. Anybody know what this is and is it important to put the plug back on in a certain way. The book says they are vacuum lines, but says nothing else.
