| | | Offroad Carb Does anyone know of a company that makes Carburaters that work on steep inclines, that won't spill, and make these carbs for a wide variety of engines? |

| | Re: Offroad Carb Edelbrock has an "off-road kit" for their Carter AFB carbs. The kit components replace the float needle and provide shrouds for the main jets plus more, I think.
I put one on my pre-runner and it made a huge difference.

| | Re: Offroad Carb The Rochester Quadrajet, DuoJet, and Monojets are about the best wheeling carbs you can get. Any carb'd GM vehicle will have one, and they're available stupid cheap. You just have to know how to tune them correctly. Many people goof them up trying to tune them like a Holley/Carter/Edelbrock, and say they're junk and ditch them. Other people take the time to learn how to do it (or find someone who does) and get an excellent running offroad carb that came out of a junkyard for $50. Jeff472 here's running a hopped up QJet on the 577 Caddy stroker in MudZilla.
You can never make a Edlebrock/Carter AFB carb work as well offroad as a properly tuned QJet, and the Holley Truck Avenger is like $380. No thanks. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
