Default Setting up fuel pressure regulator and gauge!

Hey peeps, I'm just about to set up my adjustable fuel pressure reg(dead head style/not a bypass reg) and gauge, but confused on what's going on under the hood! Not sure what my mechanic did with fuel lines after he install a mechanical fuel pump! I posted some pictures online....maybe some could tell me how and where to hook the reg and gauge in regards to my posted pics!

In regards to not having a bypass style regulator one guy said,
"You don't necessarily need a return, you could put a tee before the regulator then plumb a line from the 2nd out back to the tee"
