Default Lifted 4runner shift stick help

Im looking into purchasing a '93 4runner thats been lifted ~5.5 inches. He did something to extend the shift nob up to normal height, but he did not extend the 4x4 engagement rod so it is super low and very hard to get into 4 low. Also, i guess because of the boots placement it puts a lot of pressure on the stick and makes it jump out of gear sometimes.. and it also makes it harder to shift cause i have to fight the boot. Is this fixable?

Chiko

Edit add:

Also, while im here, it has oversized tires so the speedometre is off.. How do i fix that also?

from what you describe, there is a 3" body lift. although I've never owned a truck w/ a BL, I understand that any thing over 2" is trouble. the shifter is binding on the hole in the trans hump. the solutions that I know of (there may be a few more) are as follows: remove the three inch BL, lift the drive train (search for "flat belly pan" or something like that), modify the floor hole (cut larger/ install custom shift boot), or live with it. If you don't like these options just don't buy it.

As for the speedo, the best solution is to regear the front and rear diffs as you have lost accelleration and fuel economy. the engine no longer has the propper "leverage" to the road. otherwise any speedo shop should be able to help you out.

Why would you remove a body lift ? and why do you think they are trouble ?
Is all you have to do about the shifter is take out the boots and peel back the carpet and cut away some metal. and then put the carpet and boots back the way they were. the shifter is going to be smaller but by cutting away some metal, your problem is solved without spending tons of money.
I have a toyota with a 3" body and a 4" suspension lift. never a problem. and I have had in the past a 4runner and did a 3" body lift.

One more note. The 4x4 shift knob may just be You are not use to it. I recently took mu truck to a 4x4 shop cause of a problem and the guy said I needed to extend my shift knob cause he could not get it into 4 low.

He scared me. I went out and jumped in it and went into 4 low fine for me. when I first bought my truck, I had a problem getting it in. I think you need to get use to it. its tight and likes to be played with.

I currently own a 91 4runner, so i know how the shifters all should work and such. The 4 low doesnt go in because when i push it over to the side it rubs on the plastic console area and doesnt want to stay in 4 low very well.

As for a custom boot, how exactly would i go about that? Do they have aftermarket ones that are made to allow a broader range of motion?

Also, when i shift my car my clutch had very little resistance and works well, when i tried to shift in the other 4 runner it was very stiff and if i pushed it really quickly it felt like it was vibrating a little bit. Is that a hydralic clutch and mine is not hydrolic? What might be going on?
